This online Civil Engineering Solutions for Infrastructure seminar will have a focus on modern day civil engineering challenges, featuring civil engineering and construction experts across a range of applications.
Each day, part of the focus will also be on how the use of high density concrete and ballast has provided the optimum solution.
Taking place between Monday 14 and Friday 18 September, the free seminar will run from 11am – 1pm (approx.) each day.

Each day will have a different these and every session will follow a different civil engineering solution, with guest speakers from across the sector.
Monday: Concrete & Sustainability
Featuring a keynote speech from Kathy Calverley, the President of The Concrete Society, this webinar will hear from guest speakers; Jack Sindhu, Technical Manager for Capital Concrete; Ian Ellis, Technical Services Manager, MBCC Group; and Steve Handscomb, Commercial Director GGBS & Gypsol, LKAB Minerals.
Tuesday: Ground Stabilisation
Featuring a recent Cost Benefit Analysis, evaluating high density concrete vs standard concrete for overcoming Hydrostatic Pressure, alongside guest speakers from across the industry.
Wednesday: Radiation Shielding
Featuring guest speakers; Steve Haslam, Engineering Design Consultant, Magnox; a presentation from Aurora, Radiation Protection Advisors; and a focus on the recent Fairhurst study into hospital bunkers constructed using high density concrete.
Thursday: Bridges & Tunnels
Featuring a focus on past and future projects, including the Lake Lothing Bridge by Thorsten Braun, Senior Structual Engineer, Arup.
Friday: Offshore & Flood Defence
With a keynote speech from Robert Lewis, President, The Institute of Concrete Technology and Technical Marketing Manager for Ferroglobe and featuring guest speakers; Gary Ross, Director & Engineering Manager, Floating Energy Systems; and Adam Kopystynski, Technical Solutions Manager- Pipeline Performance, Shawcor.
